  • Autumn????

I'm sat here, as I am most days; preparing spreadsheets from data that I collected last week.....and for the first time since about April, I'm cold.

Fingers are getting a bit chilly, and I'm contemplating getting a jumper out of storage.

We have really chopped our bills, by being a bit more frugal than usual.....and we are having a little competition to try and make it to the end of October without putting any heating on. My rule for working at home is that the heating isn't allowed on until at least 3pm...but that's during the midwinter.....let alone mid September.

I'm out and about tomorrow....so that helps as the car heating will help but it is quite depressing getting cold this soon after wearing t-shirts [at the weekend].....

Is it just me? Do I need to have a hot coffee or something? What about a hot chilli cheese cracker for a snack?

I'm going to have to take a break, and take my cardi off and have a walk in the garden so that when I come back I feel warmer. I'll make a coffee I think and come back.

I really don't want to be typing in a blanket yet.

    lol.
We're having warm dry days (21c) at the moment, but I think I'll soon be in my blankie and fingerless gloves (that's inside the house).

I think perhaps you need a chilli chutney, onion and cheese toastie with a mug of tea

Just a little tip Zazen. It would be worth 'test' running the central heating to ensure it still works OK. You don't want to be donning blanket and gloves at the end of October waiting for a heating engineer. It's also an excuse to get warm at least once in the interim.

Our heating went on yesterday for an hour cause it was baltic. Never mind Autumn it's went to straight to winter here. An old neighbour still has his coal fire (I so want one - love them (I know they are a lot of work but I like cleaning and drawing a coal fire)), neighbours fire has been on the past couple of weeks. Zazen you are not alone in feeling cold.

I know what you mean, I've got my little fan heater on, under my desk at work as we speak, but I do feel the cold more than everyone else here, but they are leaping around doing things - its worse when you are sat behind a desk typing, only your fingers and eyes are moving - that's not going to keep the furnaces burning is it!! Think I'll go and do a few star jumps or something...

I walked the dog through the woods this morning and kept getting leaves drop on my head... It's definitely autumn. Our first frost is forecast for the next few days, so I expect the heating will start firing up. We've done really wel at getting our bills down too but to do it means that the heating is only on between 06.30 - 08.30 and then off until 15.30 when the kids get in from school...
So I'm going to be shivering along with you Zaz & TS

I've just been outside to warm up
These old houses keep cooler in the summer- and are 'supposed' to be warmer in the winter ( ha! I heave M leponge say!!!)
I have been ironing - and that certainly warms me up a bit!
My Mr Gere look alike is supposed to be fitting a larger rad in our lounge soon- bliss!

We had the BG man round about 4 weeks ago to do the yearly service of the boiler, and all rads were heating ok - but I agree....everyone should test their heating about now just in case......

                  It's just so chuffin chilly.

Im going to be typing in the greenhouse at this rate.....it warmer in there than in here and this is the warmest part of the house. Perhaps it's just lack of sun today.

I've got a hot coffee on at the moment.

Haven't had to put the heating on yet as the hot water system is out of the Ark and it tends to keep the house fairly warm. Still managing just a tee shirt outside but then digging does tend to keep the blood flowing.

Tiz bloomin' cold here too, i relented and put the heating on for a couple of hours though as the several layers of clothing & copious mugs of tea was just not cutting it!
