  • Ashes to Ashes

I was just wondering if anyone on here watched Ashes to Ashes?

Next Friday is the last episode and they explain everything about Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.

My money is on everyone being in coma but from a quick net search the theories range from a Wizard of Oz type thing to Gene Hunt being the Archangel Gabriel .

Me and himself watch it Crosby, but we don't have any theories, just going with the flow. We just hope they don't end it with Gene Hunt being a bad guy.
Do you watch Lost? Now that is seriously going to be a shock at the end, I'm lost every episode these days.

I started to but then drifted away, I'll normally watch something at the start and see if it grabs my attention.

I'm following Stargate Universe and A2A at the moment although I did start to watch the new V show.

I watched Life on Mars but missed quite a bit of Ashes to Ashes so I haven't carried on with it. Will watch the final ep though just to see how it finishes. Thanks for the Heads Up.

Watched both, love both - wrote 2nd year BA essay on LOM!
Although its a close thing, I prefer LOM, partially cos it had a gritty-ness and a bold sense of humour - I dont mind Alex Drake, but Sam Tyler was a much more believable character.
At the beginning of this series of A2A, one of my theories was perhaps John Simm would reprise Sam at the end to prove Gene didnt kill him....but I think that is too simplistic...
I too, dont want Gene to be bad, but I am not so sure its as straight forward as that?!?

I'm hoping it's not a simple answer, I can imagine that there'll be at least 2/3 twists in the last episode. Maybe even some faces from the past...

I love A2A, and love to see the speccy nerd come to a sticky end. Gonna miss Gene Hunt on a Friday night, have quite the crush on that character....must be the old school macho behaviour..love it

Just been going with the flow too regarding the storylines and the 'will they? won't they?' that seems to be going on with Hunt and Drake has been quite enjoyable.

I'm going to miss the one liners and insults. No one can insult like our Gene Genie!!

I watched LOM but only caught up with A2A 3 episodes ago. As there isn't any logical explanation I go with the theory it's just a bad dream but on the otherhand dreams sometimes come true
If I allow myself to take storylines seriously I cannot understand why Alex is wearing 2010 fashion.

I love both series and the last episode of Ashes was certainly taking a turn for the surreal - given it is already embedded in the surreal! 3 secondary characters all hearing voices and seeing stange things at the same time.

Haven't fathomed it out yet - but anything possible. Theory of all being in comas very plausible - but I'd guess at something a little more sinister? That investigating officer is an A1 creep.

Love Gene and his spectacularly un-PC remarks - who'd have him any other way?!

                    Cannot wait for Friday's finish!

Another finishing at the weekend - evidently a full explanation to be unfurled - is the remake of the Prisoner - was a HUGE fan of the original and I personally don't think that this version has lived up to the menace of the original - except possibly the special effects. Think the twin towers NY may have something to do with the ending. Glossy with little substance.

I too live to tell the tale..During the filming of The Prisoner...we lived next door to Patrick Magoonan. We did not realise at the time that he was going to be cult. Such a lovely family.

Love A2A!! Dont want it to end! I too cant bear the thought of Gene being a total baddy, but will have to wait and see!

There are only two things I regulary tune in to, A2A and Wallander.

Love the shots of him getting dressed for his date with Alex. The shoes are fab!!

Oooh another Wallander fan!! Do you mean the Swedish version on BBC4 or both?
I like the fact they are both so different. I love the underlying hidden meanings in the original versions.

Back to the subject though ()
Drake and Hunt getting it together.....NOOOOO!!

A2A has never been as good as Life on Mars but I've always followed it as I find Gene Hunt funny. Don't really warm to Alex Drake's character and have found this series possibly one too far. Funnily enough was taking to my brother at the weekend and he was saying the same and that they were only watching it now out of habit. Am interested to see how it ends but feel that this series has been more an 80s cop show with very little reference to getting home, Molly or why Alex could see Gene on the TV in hospital at the end of the last series. Had expected some continuity rather than the annoying bloke but am still hoping to be impressed with the final episode.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I love A2A. Not quite as good as LoM but I really never thought it could be, as that was just so original.

I actually think A2A stands up really well as a retro cop show and in many ways doesn't need the 'ooer, what's actually going on?' stuff, although of course they could hardly have carried on without that side of it. I shall be very sorry to see the last of Gene
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
