  • Apart from Gardening, what is your hobby?

Its very gardening orientated on here tonight - so, what else do you like to do in your spare time?

I knit and do cross stitch. Currently working on a picture of a cat lying along book shelves. One of my quicker ones considering it's on black fabric. My longest was a millennium sampler which I started in 1999 when I was on maternity leave with my younger son. Thought I would finish before the year 2000. It was finally finished in September .... 2010! on the day the Pope visited to be precise.

Mine is local and family history with a bit of archaeology thrown in. I've traced my family back to the 1600s, all from South West England I enjoy visiting the little villages where they lived - trying to imagine what life was like there so many years ago.

Reading, baking, walking with the poochies, crocheting (recently rediscovered), jewellery making.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

I collect Books, Maps & other stuff on Nottingham & Nottinghamshire.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I'm a mature student studying Environmental science and ecology with the Open University, I'm doing it for my own entertainment. I'm a massive Newcastle United fan too so love watching them and try to get over to games every now and again.

I don't have any actual hobbies so that's as close as it gets for me, maybe I should find one.

Not sure it's exactly a hobby, but The Open University takes up a large chunk of my time. Other than that, I read avidly, cook, bake and preserve, knit, family history (back to the 1700s so far), walking with the dog, armchair activism... And somewhere in between all that I squeeze in a bit of housework and speaking to my family

Oh, and having been born and bred in Sunderland, I try to follow the fortunes of Sunderland AFC, although I haven't been to a match since I was a fair bit younger and they were still playing at Roker Park.

                        Bits.

                        I sew a bit. I knit a bit. I read a bit. I make bits. I cook bits. I garden bits. I take photos a bit. I chat a bit. I write a bit. I craft a bit. I learn a bit.

Bits are so versatile, you know?

I collect books (son thinks I have too many) gardening, bees, craft, fiction, cooking, diets, house related, writing books.
I write poetry, and very short stories.
I get on my high horse about things and am happy to get involved in making things change.
I keep bees and am learnng to make wine but think they are probably a it gardening related.
I crochet, and do little crafty things but not well and not fr long as my neck plays up after a while.
I like cooking Indian food although don't very often.
I paint, draw and generally waste paper.
