  • Anyone know the going rate for babysitting

    Hi
My daughter has been offered some babysitting and the person she is doing it for does not know how much to pay and my daughter is not sure how much to charge. Can anyone tell us what the going rate is at the moment?

Just had a quick look on Google and they suggest £6 per hour. How old is your daughter, and is the potential customer a family friend. Both may affect the rates. I babysit for my daughter for free, but that's probably my fault.

I also think it would depend where you live - and who the person is.
When I was a teenager I used to dog sit and babysit but because the person was a friend of my Mum, she used to take ages to pay me.

The person is a work colleague of mine, her daughter is 15 but autistic and therefore cannot be left alone. I was thinking of about £5-£6. Forgot to add my daughter is in her early twenties and is looking for work at the moment.

As she's in her twenties I think £6 an hour is reasonable.....I was going to suggest £3 an hour but remembered I'm nearly 40 and only ever babysat when I was at school
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Right we'll go with £6 then. Thanks for your help.
