  • Anyone else having a cr*p day?

If so, want to share your misery cause misery loves company! Why am I a misery guts? cause my hubby has just scared the hebbies out of me. Only one thing scares me and that's my hubby's VP Shunt failing, cause then he is in serious trouble. Last shunt failure (only over a year ago) his only symptom of failure was he got sleepy, had major probs last time, nearly lost him. So this morning he gets up, still a bit sore from the surgery (he had wee op last week on his head - looks as if someone has taken an ice cream scoop to his head). Wee bit later he says I'm feeling tired (uh oh) and light headed (eek) So I call NHS 24 - they say get your GP - NOW. GP checks him out - cannot confirm shunt failure, cannot rule it out, but he does not think so (GP is a GOOD GP, not the muppet sort). So away back home. He's fast asleep (okay sleep, not bad sleep). I'm quietly having a nervous breakdown. Then Iceland calls - the lorry delivering my washing has had a bump cause of the icy roads. Think someone hates me today. Oh, and lastly I have about 6 hours of admin to do and I cannot be bummed to do it.

Not actually having a bad day today, but there have been a few lately, I have a nephew who is dealing with bone cancer for the second time. Oct-Nov were pretty bad, as it was the endless waiting for news/results/
to see how far it had gone, if it had spread, whether he was responding to treatment etc. I was especially worried for my sis, who has been hit pretty hard by it.
At the mo though, he seems to be responding well, but MRI in 10 days will give a better pic of how things stand now.
Thoughts are with you Frostyfreckle, hope he is ok. Leave the admin, it will still be there tomorrow, as will my ironing!
      Here, have a (((hug)))

Kirsty I hope and pray (if you don't mind) that your nephew kicks the big C into touch. Admin I think will be left until tomorrow, sorry I don't know what ironing is? Moggssue, I think you may need chocolate as much as I do. Yeah VP Shunts are scary, it's a plastic tube with a small valve which runs from the centre of your brain into your tum, the valve drains excess fluid off the brain, when it fails the pressure increases in your brain and that kills you within a day (roughly). I read other people's posts and do realise I have in comparison an easy life, my heart always goes out to others. I now feel slightly embarrassed for posting and most definately humbled. I hate being scared. So can I pass on some cyber hugs to you all.

My nephew was born with problems and ended up with a VP shunt. Cause for worries all round so I can imagine how you're feeling.
I'm having a dreadful day, but its always put into context by knowing someone is always worse off than yourself.
Hope things sort themselves, and as BW says, nobody hates you, bad days happen to everyone.

Bobleponge, I hope your nephew is stable now with the shunt. Unfortunately there is always someone worse off. I have found the replies to my thread very therapeutic, which sounds strange I know. Do other people feel better after posting?

Yes indeed he is. He is now 12 years old, disabled down one side of his body, but has a little chair that he terrorises everyone with. He goes to mainstream school half the time, and as far as we are all aware has no real problems in adapting.
Cheer up dudette, it can be cathartic indeed sharing your problems.

I have no idea what a VP shunt is either - but it sounds frightful.

I'm having battles with the council on the choice of bricks for my new wall [reinstating 130 year old wall] - but that's nothing compared to health issues.

Apart from that my day is great. Topped off by the half a bar of chilli chocolate I've just munched on after a trip to the shops...I'd recommend it to anyone having a carp day. And leave the admin/ironing...have a cuppa and take some YOU time.

Happy to hear Bobleponge's nephew is terrorising people - typical child! Zazen, do you live near me cause I have no choccie in the house, the tub of glace cherries I have devoured didn't hit the spot, just made me feel slightly sick. Ooh councils the length and breadth of the UK are generally a pain when you need their advice/help. Who gives council officials their jobs ? cause I would not employ any of them.

I have to admit to having a chocci hit at lunchtime - ran out to the library in my lunchbreak, and just happened to pass a newsagent, as you do ....

                          Frosty, how's your OH now?

Frosty...sorry but I could chuck some in the post for you if necessary.

I have to say eating a tub of Glace cherries - eugh. Almost as bad as xmas pudding - bleugh.

I'll stick to the choccie, you know where you are with choccie.

Sorry to hear about your bad day Frosty & everyone else's problems, it really does make things I worry about (currently noisy neighbours & trivial things!) pale into insignificance! I've had quite a good day today, found out a local garden centre is closing down which is sad but then bought some bits & pieces half price there which cheered me up! I'd definitely go for the big bar/box of chocs. though for a pick-me-up!
