I usually love cooking but I am really off it at the moment - totally uninspired. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Yes.
I was making my lunches for a full week on a Sunday, but I've not had the motivation to do it for several weeks now.
I did manage a pretty tastey chicken kiev 2 nights ago, but don't often get the chance or the time to cook these days.
Hopefully the new dishwasher will help as I won't have to battle a mountain of washing up afterwards.Current Executive Board Members at Ollietopia Inc:

I've had a really uninspired season too!
Usually by now,I'd have pots upon pots of pumpkin curry in the freezer.Also,the two previous years I loved experimenting with courgettes & wasted none...sadly the chooks got far more this year than they shoulfd.
I'm hoping to get it back though...although I need to learn to love my new(actually been here two years,but that's when I gradually started to lose heart)kitchen.Although it's a bit bigger than the old house the layout all seems totally wrong & the oven's shite AND it's North facing!the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

i dont cook OH does it all, although I did say last night that he was getting a bit monotonous with his offerings, he did say something about me wearing it if I wasn't careful

Do you cook for fun or do you cook to feed. I used to cook for my family and must admit that was soul destroying. You cannot please all of the people all of the time!
Now I cook for fun. I batch cook and bake. My family have families of their own now and they seem delighted when I deliver fresh baked bread and stuff.
I lie awake at night planning the next days session. Today it was Koftas and tangine. We bought the topside from Tesco yesterday, minced it and kofta'd it. Fortunately my OH just loves washing up.Comment

I used to be in the restaurant/hotel business until I sold up three years ago. Perhaps if I gave them a bill at the end of their meal I may start to enjoy it again.Originally posted by Brengirl View Post

Must agree Amanda. Cooking by demand is soul destroying unless you are being paid major bucks for the imput. I have felt like that recently, but pulled out the cookbooks and made plans to do lots more different things, and shaped the monthly shopping list around what I wanted to cook as opposed to what I normally do.
We have been pretty skint lately, and I have not been able to sneak the extra baking bits I usually do on to the shopping, but that will change this month. Also have promised Lauren a gingerbread house for her birthday instead of what she calls a 'boring' cake. Looking forward to doing that
Planning to do some bread over the weekend and currently have a steamed steak and kidney pud on the go as I type. Haven't had that for ages.Kirsty b xx

Yeah, we've had a bit of a pants season this year as far as preserving stuff goes Di. Last year I had jars and jars of stuff in the cupboard, including pasta sauces, salsa, jams, marmalades, ketchups, chutneys... This year, we've probably only got about a quarter of the amount, and no chutneys or ketchups at all. Partly down to a rubbish season for us with toms and chillis, but also down to apathy
I've managed to pick myself up a bit on the cooking front recently though, since we got a new butcher in the village. We had an immense lamb broth the other day, full of veggies and beans and pearl barley, it was fab

This is the time of year when I start to get interested in cooking. If I get rained-off, I cook. My DH does it the rest of the year (being an ex-chef, he's better at it than me) but loves coming home to a meal in the winter. Last winter I built up a small selection of easy recipes to impress him with, most of them were from on here!

My other half seems to do most of the cooking lately, we did have an agreement that whoever gets in first starts the evening meal... I just seem to be held up at work these days, honestly.

I do love cooking, but enjoy the 'trying new things' aspect of it more than the daily grind!! Did way more preserving this year than I did last year, making jam must be one of my favourite things to do, that and bread for therapy!! Excellent when in bad mood, can take it out on the dough

I'm finding being skint is really helping my cookery creativity! I try and see how long I can go betweens 'shops' and try and use what we have. I have to say, I am really enjoying it far more that I used to when we could afford to buy pretty much whatever we fancied!Comment
