  • anyone been to Lavenham?

Mr Sheds keeps on about going, but what is there at Lavenham?

We recently went to Aylsham, and I swear it was shut! No shops, the "farmers market" was your usual plastic tat and junk, and the pub was empty.

As I remember it was quite pretty with a few little 'oldeworldecofffeeshoppes' and antique shops but that was it! Am sure someone else will enlighten us!

      Hi TS

I lived in Hadleigh for a short while many many moons ago and worked in a factory (no longer there) in Lavenham.

Thought it was a lovely place but it'll have changed since I was there last (a lot!).

I dont know how to put a link on but you could try looking at Welcome to Lavenham and Welcome to The Swan Hotel

If you do go, hope you enjoy it. I miss that part of the world and have a brother living in Old Newton.

      Take care

Lavenham is a beautiful, old village with lots of history,it is known for some of the most beautiful gardens. That part of Suffolk is very beautiful, lots of lovely little villages around there. Also just up the road in Semer is a lovely farm called Hollow Tree farm,as mentioned in the 'Jimmys Farm post' elsewhere on the vine.We went there this morning &we were really impressed.!!....I also used to work in factory in Hadleigh ,Newby, wasnt the same one was it? p.s.Bizzarely our neighbours went to Jimmy's farm on friday,Cromer camping for the W/E & then Lavenham this arvo!!maybe i should get them round!!

Its a lovely olde-worlde place with lots of tea-rooms {my reason for going anywhere}. Lots of wiggly, bent old buildings.Remember Lovejoy on tele? That was filmed at Lavenham.

Well, normally I would Google, but it doesn't give you personal recommendations, which is what I was after.

thanks everyone, might be worth a trip after all.
