  • Another computer numpty question.

I've recently been getting Emails sent to me with attatchments that I can't open...they have 'doc x' after them.
A friend has said there's a software programme that can download for free but she can't remember the name of it.
    Any ideas?
We have Windows XP if that means anything.
    Thankyou.x

DOCX are for the latest version of Microsoft Word. The viewer should work fine.

If not as the sender to save in the old Word format and resend.

You would be better off installing this instead Download details: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats, this is the Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats and will allow you to open *.***x files on the fly as it converts as it opens.

You could also try saving to your desktop as .doc without the x without opening it and then open from there.

If you email me, I will convert it back to a doc file for you.

No...I've done it...or rather you lot guided me to doing it
Even the printer seems to be playing nicely and isn't leaving out whole sentences....for once I can go to a governors meeting with all the correct paperwork instead of a blank look on my face
