Well..... I'm in the UK next week- and was hoping to call in at a shop /chemist/health food/farm supplies shop.

never heard of the stuff but found this on google What is alum? . Also found this on wikianswers "Alum can be found at a grocery store in the spice selection and where all the powder things are because its mostly sold in powder form

Thanks AP - I had seen that- but unfortunately it's an American site.
