  • To all Rabbit owners

Please be aware that the Myxamotisis season is here. Mann has got it and we don't know if he will survive. The Vet seems to think that he will but I am not so sure. Nothing much we can do but wait and see. The Vet has prescribed some ointment for his eyes which are very swollen. He is still eating and drinking but is not himself. The others have been vaccinated so hope it won't spread. It is spread by insects, fleas, ticks and the like and as Mann is a free ranging rabbit I suppose it is not surprising. For now he is confined in a big run or his hutch.

    Keeping our fingers crossed.

Poor thing I hope he becomes his normal bouncing bunny self again soon.

Hope he pulls through. No bunnies here anymore...not many wild ones either to be honest. Fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear that. We have some very cute bunnies who live at the side of a path at work who have just succumbed. Didn't realise there was a peak time of year?!?!

Not so much a peak but a season. Once it warms up and the livestock start to bite about now.

Anyone tried getting a Rabbit to drink with a syringe? Fun I can tell you. Good job he is so tame or it would be impossible.

                    Quick Mann update.

Well he is still with us. Looking a real mess and gone off the idea of eating. I am hydrating him every three hours during the day and was up at 3am to do the same. His eyes are still swollen but don't look as red and his testicles look slightly less swollen. Sorry for the graphic details.
He has become a house Rabbit and seems quite happy sitting on the sofa. Last night he was loose on the floor and came and jumped on my lap seemed to say 'I feel c***p and want a cuddle'

                      Aww...poor little chap.
Glad he's starting to improve ...no wonder he wanted a cuddle.

Hope he just gets better from now on, grow something special for him

Already seen those horrible ticks about, a lot around me where the goat farmers walk around with their goats
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

My sisters rabbit got it about 4/5 years ago. They gave her some antibiotics and she started to get better.

Good news that th thunder bunny is a bit better - when he is back to his old self he is going to want to stay cuddled up on the sofa next to you.
