  • All clean and Tidy!

So it's now one thirty am and I've spent the day tidying the garden and doing all the things I have meant to do, and it really looks lovely now.I've cleaned the house, ironed all the clothes ... because we are going away.
Is this a mum thing? Or a putting your house in order thing? I do it every time we go away and the daft thing is that the grown up kids are going to still be here, we are escaping on our own and I've left it lovely for them!!
There will be a list of do's and don'ts. And they will each have something to look after, son number one is on watering duty and no. 2 will be looking after chooks, so they had better keep things as I left them!!!

No to putting house in order, before we go away i tidy our home from top to bottom, make sure all washing is done and put away, clean the bathrroom, fridge, cooker etc and change the beds. Learnt from my mum but it is sooo nice to come home after hols to a lovely sparkly clean home and fresh clean sheets.

We try and make sure the cleaner is here a couple of days before going away so that it is clean whilst we are gone; even though there will be nobody here whilst we are away.

I generally leave my place as it stands, heading out of the front door at 0400 doesnt ever inspire me to clean and tidy at that time of the day.
I have a friend who comes and cleans the house for me when I'm away, so I always come home to a nice clean and tidy house, which is nice.

I do this, and I also unplug all of the plugs in the house (learnt behaviour from my mum !). My other half just stands there and laughs. He tells me that he is sure that the buglers probably wouldn't really stand there tutting that the cushions are not plumped and that he really doesn't think that, as we are out of the house for 10 hours every day, the plugs will decide, whilst we are on hols, to act out of character and suddenly blow up. I still do it !

Only things I do when we go away is to make sure the tea pot and kitchen caddy are empty.

I try to make sure house is tidy too. Make sure bins etc are empty and beds/rooms are tidy for when we come back.
Despite this, I still feel the need to blitz through upon our return seeing as I'll be doing the holiday washing anyway!

when we used to go away I used to blitz the house. Probably the only time the house was really clean. Hubby always said it was mad but just something I do, no realreason as to why though.

I always clean the house, get all the washing done before we go away - but I learnt it from my mum. They were burgled when they were first married and the police asked if the bed had been made before they went out. Must be 50+ years ago and she's never forgotten having to admit they hadn't made the bed!

Last job before we leave on holiday though is to wash the dirty dishes that OH has stacked in the dishwasher - he just doesn't think it though

So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!
