  • Advice Needed

I'm going to call upon you good people for some advise. My family were due to be going on a skiing holiday to Austria in February, but my wife has broken her foot, and skiing is out of the question now.

Unfortunately for us our flights are with EASYJET, there is no easy involved. Now I'm aware that you can't cancel unless someone has died and you can produce a death certificate, and that you can transfer aslong as you pay an additional £70 per return flight to do so, but they don't schedule 12 months in advance so I couldn't put it off by a year.

Normally I would chalk it up but our flights weren't budget!!, our 3 return flights cost us £1270, so here's my quandary have any of you peeps had dealings with Easyjet, and whether there are any alternatives to either losing my money as they are non refundable, or alternatives to transferring.

Its my own fault I know, I didn't want to fly easyjet but they were the only people with available tickets, that'll teach me.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Were you insured? If so does it cover cancellation?

Was going to suggest that.. or failing that, I'll come with you if you can put up with your wife not speaking to you for a couple of months!

Mikey, will her foot not have healed by February? That's two full months away.

Oh, also - just remembered my mrs broke her arm when we went snowboarding - as long as the cast is a half, or open cast then she'll be able to fly (obviously, if not healed just not ski)

Personally I'd still go and take her with you.
There's usually other stuff she can do- it's much better than losing all that money. Will she be out of her cast by Feb????

Footballers do it. Dose her up on calcium and tell her to man up. Is she in a cast? My son once broke a bone in his foot (about 30 years ago) and we took him on hols to Somerset in a cast you could blow dry after paddling in sea. Not quite sking, skiing, skying, skiying (take your pick) but surely technology has advanced in that time? Other than that the money you may loose could more cheaply fund her apres ski account with foot on stool.

We lost our holiday money too. £900. The "insurance" said we were covered for serious illness, the small print said it had to be us that had the serious illness. Apparently your father dying of cancer isn't serious enough to warrant cancelling your holiday

I'm with everyone else here - as long as she can fly, I would say go ahead with your trip, there will be loads of other things to do that don't involve "falling" down mountains (as I did, nearly killed meself - but that's another story )
Whatever you decide to do, I hope it all works out well for you.

Had kind of the same thing, TS - holiday to Oz booked, found out I was preggers and baby due at the same time as the holiday, but the insurance I paid handsomely for, didnt consider this a valid reason!!

                    so we lost our deposit!!

I think you can change the names on the flight....ie sell them on. There is an admin fee and the cost of the difference in the flight cost between when you buy and sell them.

Can you not also transfer to a different destination. Ie use them for your summer hols.

Where are they to? What dates etc?

I would also say go ahead with the trip. There are lots of things to do at ski resorts. Just remember to limit her Gluhwein budget.

I wonder if the Health Insurance would need to know about a pre-existing 'condition'???

I'd say still go. A holiday is a holiday, whatever you're doing. You can still throw yourself down mountains, and your good Lady can go sight-seeing, shopping, or just relax and chill out, making the most of the Hotel's facilities when the rest of you nutters are out and about.

                              Hope She's OK.
