    Advice about the ads please?

    The ads here are very annoying. The constant moving is an issue for me.

    I downloaded adblocker but although it's enabled for this site, it's doing nothing so clearly I'm doing something wrong.

    I'm sure I've had this conversation before but I'm having a senior moment about it all and can't remember what what said.

    Can anyone please tell me how to stop the ads showing? If I can't do that, can I at least stop them moving?

    The 4 main ads just under the 'Forum/Blogs/What's New' toolbar are the worst although the ones at the right hand side are annoying too.

    I've not been around as much as they really are beginning to be a big problem for me.

          I have selective vision - it enables me to ignore them completely.....

            I go to the 'tools' menu, drop down then click on "Delete browsing history".

            Works for me. Cheers, Tony.

              A bit of a late reply, but some ads on some sites will stop moving if you press the 'Esc' key.

                The Ads don't bother me. I look at it as the ads pay for a great site that we get to use for free.

                  I also find the ads really annoying. I am always accidentally hitting them.

                    I have Adblock Super (free download) and it stops virtually everything.

                      Read the help on your Adblock program, some you right click and block element, others you click on an icon then click on the ad to block the element

                        For some reason, this was not working previously. I could right click but the box that opened didn't open fully, I only saw half of it.

                        Whether that was a glitch or something on my pc that was conflicting with the prog and causing problems, who knows.

                        Anyway, I've got it working now so thank you all.

                        Btw Pots, I get terrible migraines and visual auras and find this type of thing on sites is an issue, it's not just a simple case of not liking them much. It would be better if the movement was slower but the speed seems to be what affects me more.

                        Anyway, not to worry, I seem to have got the Adblock thing working now (hope I haven't just tempted fate there ).

                            in general, i don't mind ads - i know why they're there
                            but the ads on this site are a pain because they move the content - rather than encouraging users to click on ads they're interested in, it drives people away and most people who click on the ads will do so accidentally ....

                              It's the subscription offer that is sometimes run that is the real PITA

                              As just posted it - moves everything down and then up again - I find I've clicked in the wrong place, by the time it scrolls back again. If it just stayed where it was, once it popped up, it wouldn't be soooo annoying.
