I'm a girl, Wayne (last time I looked!).

I'd say the same thing about men or women wearing crocs. They remind me of those jellybean shoes in the 80s!! I'm not the only one to think it, either...

Ah, sorry. Anyone that calls me mate automatically makes me think dude - just how it is with me, unless/until I know otherwise.

One could argue anyone saying "mate" to another dude DESERVES to be called a man...

I'm a member of a group on Facebook called something like "I Don't Care How Comfy Crocs Are, You Look Like A Dumbass!", it has 902,949 members

Soz Su, you keep on wearing your Crocs if you like 'em, each to their own! I have to say, I'd probably laugh at a 6˝ ft bloke wearing a pair of flip-flops to the allotment too. Pool wear? Maybe. Allotment wear? No.

One of the oldest forms of footwear known to man (or woman). I wear mine almost everywhere - pool included.

Not to say I don't wear wellies aswell, but if all you're doing is a bit of hoeing I don't see the need to make my feet sweat in a pair of wellies.

My pint exactly. Wellies when it's muddy, or if I'm digging. Other "light" work doesn't require sweaty unhealthy for my feet wellies. The digging bit takes up little of my allotment time over the year, and I'm rarely there or doing anything if it's muddy.

Ack, sorry. I did do a psychology test for 'male versus female' brains and my brain came out overwhelmingly male!! I had a train set and cars as a nipper and everything! I do wonder what my Mum ate when she was up the duff...it was the 70s...

I just had to google VBH. Don't like racing cars (they drive in circles, wot's that about?!?) and I don't smoke, but not a bad comparison! I prefer driving bigger stuff. Wouldn't mind a go at lorry racing, though! A Peterbuilt with big stacks on! Wooo!!

Those flip-flops are plain wrong!

On a side-note, I only learnt the term 'toe thong' the other day, as an alternative name for flip-flops. I had this bizarre image of underwear with toes in!!!

Di (I'm also a 'Di', what a class name you have!), I also use work-boots when in the garden, or jodhpur boots if I'm in and out a lot (I get lazy with laces!). There's us being all sensible and then there's these flip-flop weilding maniacs. The ants'll av yer toes next, Wayne. You watch!

flip flops give you bunions ....... it's a fact, i used to wear them all the time, and now i have one it flipping hurts, and now i can't wear them at all, something to do with the fact that you grip them with your toes and it bends your toe out of line eventually.

i have just bought some crocs for out in the garden, cos i was sick of having sweaty feet, normally i wear DM's though, cos they stop you chopping your toes off with a shovel .... i'm a bit accident prone, and chopped my toe nail off last week in a pair of sandals.

Along with there being weapons of mass destruction in Iraq!

The way you grip with flip-flops has no bearing on the way bunions are formed. All of your toes grip the flip flop - bunions are where the toe is deformed in the horizontal plane, not the stress of vertical pressure which occurs when toes"grip". Toes don't "grip" between each other, even fingers struggle to do that.

Bunions are somewhat inherent, you're either susceptible to them or not. Shoes that overcrowd the toes will not help, but again, they do not "cause" bunions. However, more women suffer with bunions than men, so tight shoes certainly don't help.

I'm surprised you have one at all Lynda being a DM wearer, they do tend to be quite generous, a bit like a clarks shoe for men. My OH loves her DM's, well did she's an avid fan of crocs now, though in Black.

i only got mine through wearing flip flops ....... my doctor also got one from wearing scholl sandals, when she was a medical student and walking round the corridors for hours. and she was told it was cos of the shoes.

thankfully i only have the one and even though it's painful, it's not that bad yet ...... but the DM's are plenty wide enough, so they deffo haven't caused it.
