  • 50th birthday pressie ideas for Mr DDL

I know this may sound a bit daft, after all we have been together for nearly 27 years, but trying to get an idea for a 50th birthday pressie out of Mr DDL is like getting blood out of a stone!
I would love to do something special, of course, of his choice, but Im hitting a brick wall so far.
I did a surprise 40th BBQ and personalised no plate for his 40th...........
Has anyone any other ideas I could ask about, I know its HIS birthday, but if I could come up with some ideas?..............................Many thanks!

A race driving day at a circuit of your choice - Oulton Park (near you-ish) will do a BMW M3 driving experience. Check out Driving Experience UK

Or that weekend away for MG Car Club at Cadwell in September (free course car ride included)

        Well, without any clue as to his tastes, hobbies or interests;

What about a 'Red-Letter' day? Ferrari driving, Off-roading, Parascending, Hot-air Balloon ride, Rally driving, White water rafting...

If he doesn't like that much excitement, go for a good Show and a Spa Hotel break, CenterParcs or Country Club type weekend/week.

        Good luck!

So, fast car for the weekend, staying at Country Club where he can play Golf all day and you can be massaged and pampered, wined and dined, and he'll think it was his treat!

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I would second/third the idea of a race-track day as well

I bought Mr OWG one for his 30th... he thought it was amazing - he drove a couple of Ferraris, a Lambourghini, and an Aston Martin I think. I took loads of pictures and whenever we see one of the cars on the road (or on TV) he just says "drove that!"

Just make sure he's small enough to fit into the cars. LadyWayne's brother and I looked into this some time ago and we are both too big for the "fast cars" and are limited to tanks and 4x4 experiences.

What about a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats...

I was lucky with OH's 50th, there was a solar eclipse, in South Africa, so we went for a 6 day break, and to watch.
I always have problems with presents for him. When I do know what to get, I can never find it! (and son is as bad, I often know what he wants, but he goes out and BUYS IT HIMSELF about a week before!)

Thank you so much for all your ideas.
After some discussion with Mr DDL, he has decided that he just wants a quiet birthday, no parties, no surprises, and any money he would like to go towards a new car for him.
Fair enough, its his birthday. Thanks for your ideas anyhow.
