Default How about ........

....... a recycling section on the Vine. Loads of us recycle things it may be of use to list them for others.

Great idea Nick, some of us are close enought to exchange bits and bobs or post them (like seeds).

Good idea if you live close enough to each other. Seeds etc can always be posted if not. Good recycling site if you don't want to do it through the Vine is Freecycle. Most areas have a local one, just go to search and type in Freecycle. Someone came and collected glass from the shed today, and also a slow cooker that had been lurking in the cupboard under the stairs.

It would be good to have some recycling tips for those of us who don't live local to anyone.

But why duplicate freecycle?

Also restricting it to Grapes only.

And please don't climb down my neck, I'm only asking.

I think it's a good idea myself.

I really appreciate the idea behind freecycdle, but I don't have a local one and my nearest one I've joined always bikcers, and have started a poll up saying they don't want to have people outside their area join (like me), so I've given up on it.

But even if this board was used for recycling threads '100 ways to reuse a Christmas Card', or '100 ways to reuse a loo roll tube'... etc. Local swapping would be good be a good bonus if it proved to work out as well as getting grapes to meet each other

I wasn't thinking of duplicating freecycle/freebay Peter, My thoughts were purely lottie orientated. like cutting the bottom of Demijons to make bottle cloches .... bugger, thats one I've given away already

Also, even though we may live a long way apart I may have something that Rat wants (dirty postcards for instance) and I could pass them to Beefy on his way thru Nunny, he passes them to LJ in some dark dockside alleyway and she passes them to someone else etc etc on to the frozen North. Or he could just meet me in Oban in July when I'm up there on me hols - lock up yer sheep & Haggi

I think it is a great idea, I think some of us travel for work too so we could arrange to drop things off.

I am in cheshire at least once a fortnight and reguarly in Manchester, London, Watford, Bolton, oxford to name a few and would be happy to offer free transport while out and about.

I think it would be nice to offer anything gardening / allotment related to fellow grapes first. Freecycle second.

Loving the recycling thread idea. Although i havent come across anyone from Coventy yet. The nearest to me is Nick i think. Are there any fellow coventrians out there?
Judging by the number of empty lotties in Coventry i dont think there are many GYOs from round here.

Great idea to limit it to lottie stuff, Freecycle is a great site but you have to wade through masses of "other" stuff just to sort out the lottie items.

When can it start? I could do with a couple of scaffold boards each about 3 metres long.

When can it start? First we have to show there is plenty of interest in the idea and then I need to persuade Admin that it would be good for the forum.

I think this is a great idea too but transport of items might be a problem, especially up here. There's lots of things I'd like but can't find up here, or don't want to fork out more than necessary. For example, I've missed out on two mincing machines because they've either been chucked away or buried under piles of junk. Anyone got a mincing machine they don't want any more? Will pay postage!
