| Jennie I am soon to be ordering 100 tubers of the JA's so can send ten or a dozen your way when they arrive. If you or others can't wait, try Moles Seeds who sell 25 tubers for £5.40 or Edwin Tuckers who sell them at £2/kg (not sure how many you get in a kilo though  )

| I was alittle disapointed with the programe, but will watch next week and see how it goes.Loved Carols reaction with her spuds!.Programe was abit bitty for me,jumping from one item to another in different gardens. |

| Mr D enjoyed it so much that he's now lifted his ban on buying more seeds etc, as he wants some of the Ferusalem Artichokes, I think his reasoning is that he wants to try the posh 'chips'!

| I was keen on getting some Jerusalem Articokes too after seeing the programme but on hearing on another post that they make you fart I'm not letting OH near them!

| If anyone has some JA tubers going spare, then we'd love some, save us having to buy some anyhows! I'd be happy to do swapsies, or to send an SAE, but only if you are sure you dont need them all!

| I've only just watched the programme as I recorded it & I thoroughly enjoyed it. I know some people don't like when they are showing summer harvesting in the middle of winter & pretty shots of the countryside but I think it's just the thing to get you dreaming about what you can grow this year whilst we're in the depths of a dreary winter. I've been drooling over the artichoke chips Carol & her friend cooked & didn't know they grew into such tall lovely plants. I would love to try growing them but don't think I can fit any in as they seemed to take up a lot of space.Not sure about the 'wind' problem either it's bad enough in our house as it is!

| Hi Sue, Jerusalem Artichokes make a beautiful border plant too:  They like about 1m2 to grow full sized tubers. Pruning in July or August will restrict the height but not the windbreak effect, flowering or crop. Tried it for the first time this year, resulting in a smaller bushy hedge of flowers.

| Thanks Supersprout, they look lovely & I like the idea that you can prune them & still get the flowers. I've just got a Mr. Fothergill's brochure in the post this morning & they are selling a Jerusalem Artichoke called 'Fuseau' which they say can be grown in a large container so maybe I will try some one way or another.

| Many thanks GG! Supersprout has already said she can send me a few Fuseau tubers, which is great, but with a possible second plot to plant up then the more the better, especially as we went through the seeds last night and Mr D has definitely banned any more seed purchases!!

| Not watched the tv prog yet (recorded it) but it sounds good. Surely you couldn't expect one 30 minute prog to be all things to all growers? If it manages to get people enthusiastic about growing their own then its a good start? Love Jerusalem Fartichokes, delicious roasted or in soups, but they do have a bit of a 'consequence'!!!

| Thinking of trying them. but more realsitically going to be next year cos I can't do everything all at once on my plot despite wanting to! Not much that doesn't make my OH windy so don't have to worry too much about consequences when I do get round to them |

| Summer savory was a great discovery last year, I'll be growing again as companion to beans - both plot and pot. What a lovely herb! Some say that asafoetida (hing) moderates veggie windiness
