  • The 2016 Perseid meteor shower

Just a heads up for those who are interested....

The prediction is for up to 200 meteors per hour to be seen on the peak night of evening of August 11, morning of August 12.
They can be seen either side of that date too, and apparently they have already started!

This is double the usual amount so there's more chance of seeing them.

Look North East- here's more details!!

^^^ I was going to say I hope so...then thought better of it!!

If I had young kids, or grandchildren I think it's a fantastic excuse to put up a tent in the garden with the kiddies ..and have a spesh midnight experience with them!

Of course it could be the one that animates all the machines and turns them against mankind - but that has less of a gardening feel to it

Is Triffid a new member of the Vine?

Anyhow, and very short notice.......anyone in the East Mids can see the I.S.S from 22.45 tonight.

It's my sons 19th birthday today and he just got accepted into the uni of his choice and the exact computer science course he wanted (soo proud ) we are going to a dark sky event on the beach, 11pm where apparently if it clears we will see meteors light up the landscape! Will that really happen?! It sounds too exciting!

It's raining at the moment but they say it will clear later tonight, fingers crossed.

Did anyone see the meteor shower? I got up at about 3.15 and saw two really good ones out of the velux window. So I went outside and waited for about 10 mins but didn't see anything remarkable.

                          Thank you Nicos

Well rain finally stopped but it was really misty. We drove to the beach there were a few disappointed people and we missed the talk. We drove home, the sky cleared a little and suddenly one spectacular meteor seemed to zoom right over us we didn't see any more but felt much happier having at least seen one.

Its been dark and raining all day so not sure if we'll see any tonight. Hope everyone else has a bit more luck.
