Who apart from me took part in this today!

Im hoping every man and his dog did I can honestly say even my 3 year old did me proud during those long 2 minute

I am in the army only have a month left been to places that are not nice!

I have been to Iraq and Afghanistan and once you lost friends and even a member of family in those places 11-11-11 will always be an important part of your life

I did darcy although I missed the laying of the wreaths at the village War memorials by about 5 minutes. There were a lot of locals here paying their respects.

        2 minutes silence here too.

We are given daily reminders of WW2 in our location ( being part of the Falaise pocket).
Very sad the French don't have poppies- I used to wear one every year when we lived in the UK.

I went for a walk and was sidetracked by a beautiful rainbow. Heard the Last Post played by the trumpet player in the local jazz band though. He practices it regularly for a few days before hand as a bugle isn't quite his forte!

That's what I thought too - a complete arch, continuity, and reflected glory in the still water. It was perhaps the most beautiful rainbow I've ever seen.......

As I've said on the other threads I was very moved by the people at the carboot - and I mean everyone, adults and children alike - who kept the two minutes silence. The world just stopped. It was very touching.

Being a soppy beggar, things like that move me to tears. I cannot watch the service at the Albert Hall. Considering I come from a Service family, I'm a bit pathetic.

Always shed a tear when watching the ceremony on telly - and what a beautiful, sparkling day for it.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Hubby and I watched here in Holland (on the Beeb) would never miss it. Our sons even taught teachers and fellow students in the USA to show respect on 11/11

As usual old comrades parade, then back to the mess for a beer.

2 minutes silence here as well, Darcy.

I was an Army wife and my eldest son is still in the Army and my youngest was too until about 10 years ago. It's when you've had family members being sent to war zones that makes me realise how fortunate we are to have come out unscathed. We have to keep remembering the ones who didn't and their families too.

Remembering those who gave their lives.

I feel strongly that there's plenty still living who should swap places with them!
