Default Half Price Strawberries
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that every supermarket you visit at this time of year is claiming to sell half price strawberries. When they can be bought cheaper on the local market and from the greengrocer do they really expect us to believe that they are selling them at half price? Have you ever seen them displayed at anything other than half price? If the fruit is permanently what the supermarkets call half price then surely half price is full price, if you catch my meaning.

Agreed. That's why I never buy strawberries or raspberries. If they don't grow at home we don't have them.

Yes! Some were on offer yesterday in a local supermaket - Went down from £2.99 to a 'value' £1.99 for around 12 (probably bitter) strawberries . Think I'll stick to picking my own for now .

half price and half the taste as well! nothing now tastes better than my own home grown ones, they are the best!

one question - when a plant has flowered and grown the fruit, will it flower again and grow more??

had them 2.00 a punnet reduced from 4.99 a punnet.
do they think we are stupid?.
4.99, ok wouldnt buy a gallon of fuel but for a handfull of strawbs i dont think so.

What they mean is; half the price of the shipped in from Israel or South Africa, or whatever, because they are now in season here without the shipping costs! Trouble is, most people now have no idea what the proper seasons are for stuff, so they just see that the strawberries cost less than they did a couple of weeks ago, and think they're getting a bargain!

It should do SS. Mine are flowering and fruiting like mad. Give them some tomato feed now and again to keep their strength up.
