| Catrina That sounds wonderful, sitting looking a the view, peace and quiet. Bliss! And I agree about the rubbish - why do people feel it's okay to just drop it wherever they are??? Even here at home, I put out the garden waste bag for collection, and before it could be collected someone had dumped their fizzy drink tin and chololate bar wrapper in it!!! Makes my blood boil too when folk are so thoughtless. I'm currently resting at home after a visit to the dentist this morning for a tooth extraction - not as bad as I had thought it would be, the injections were the worst part!! Anyway, my excuse for putting my feet up and chilling out for the day. Hope you had a good time on your plot.

| Grrrrr rubbish ![]() My day off down the allotment was slightly marred (the sun was shining) by having to collect nearly a full black bag of all sorts of c@!p. My patch is next to the fence, next to a main road - you wouldn't believe some of the stuff chucked over ![]() Oh well, there was nothing too nasty (this time), it only took me half an hour, the sky was blue and I got a bit of a tan! Not too bad really (at least I didnt have to go to the dentist - eek!) Jane |

| Geoff you must make an effort to get up there on a beautiful day like today it was gorgeous. I have been up in all weathers. Each time it is different. Last winter my husband and I walked up twice in a week to catch the sunrise and I have got a picture of him standing on the stile at the top of the steps with the sun coming up behind him. Winky I hope you are feeling better this afternoon after your visit to the dentist. I have a visit planned for next week. I had a wonderful time on my plot. I only got home 20 minutes ago with burnt legs as I forgot to put lotion on them so the backs of my legs are a bit hot now. Just off for my evening meal and then to water my home garden. |

| My husband and I were wandering round the local park with the dogs on Sunday evening enjoying the beautiful weather but there's always the litter to bring you back down to earth. We picked up several plastic bottles around the cricket pitch and there were loads more by the football goal posts. Unfortunately there seems to be only dog poo bins around and no general litter bins in the cark park. I know the kids should be taught to take their bottles home but a few more litter bins around would help as well. Same thing out in the country lanes where I ride my horse, the drainage ditches have been cleared by the council but all the general detritus they uncovered has just been left there. I can't really jump off and collect that lot as I don't think my mare would appreciate a black bag full of rubbish flapping round her ears! I do go and clear where and when I can but disposing of it can also be difficult as our recycling boxes are not very big. Anybody else seen the "peopleclearing litter" website? |

| There was supposed to be a big campaign this year, by Bill Bryson, but I haven't seen anything since this article appeared:Interview: Bill Bryson | Society | The Guardian I pick up litter nearly every day while out and about, but the sheer volume of it overwhelms me. You never see anyone dropping it, do you? Only once, and it was four teenage girls in a car, who threw their snack wrappers out the window. I said something and they just laughed at me, but hopefully were embarrassed enough not to do it again.

| we recently went to a beautiful wooded area & parts of it were not just litter but bottles smashed to a thousand pieces!it's bad enough being too lazy to take tour litter home but really infuriates me when an effort has been made to ruin an otherwise beautiful environment!
