| It is possible to grow Elder from ripe seeds, or from semi-hardwood cuttings, taken from new growth (August). A 30cm (1ft) cutting should be taken and placed in a coir, grit and compost mix then over-wintered in a cold frame/greenhouse. Plant out the following spring. I grow them from softwood cuttings taken in the spring. They will even root in a cup of water.
