| Not on about a fairground prize here folks... ![]() Taken from Mrs. D's "I've been bitten" thread: I have volunteered to start a thread about the daft things we did or said to attract our OH. So here's my confession... Vicar.... Many, many moons agow, when I was young (and foolish!), Shirley and I were messing about on my bed (just for the record Shirls was lying clothed across the bed!) with her head hanging over the side. Then I said, "I can see right up your nose..." That was it. I was nailed. ![]() There was also an omelette, but that's another story... ![]()

| I met Mr D thru a charity self help group he helped to set up on MayDay 2000, I heard about it and decided that it was something I'd like to help with, went along to the first meeting, and was laughing and joking with a group of folks when Mr D came very quickly back with something funny / risque, the thought went thru my mind 'He'll do for me', but not in any way a 'I'm going to marry him, rather what a funny, cool guy! We started working together on making the website for the group, and discovered we both had the same sense of whacky humour and similar beliefs, which we then explored together, realising that we were falling in love! (At the time we were both dating other people, so it took a couple of months to get ourselves disentageld before we could officially start dating!) On his birthday we went to Manchester for a night out (end of august), and ended up a bit squiffy, and both very hungry! Both skint, so Mr D invited me back to his for a toasted cheese butty, which I was a bit dosparaging of when suggested, but when given a Barm cake with Extra Mature Cheddar on it, I soon changed my mind! We were also working together on decorating a room in his council house, and one evening (3rd September 2000) found ourselves working thru the night, the air laden with tension and longing, but neither of us wanting to take the initiative! When it reached 6am we both had finished what we were doing and were knackered, so fell into bed together, but both sooo tired that we just went to sleep! I never went home again after that, and 6 weeks later (on my Birthday) Lee proposed, and we were wed 10 days later on Halloween! Life with Lee is complete, I couldnt imagine life without him any longer! ![]()

| While on a weekend visit (doing interviews in Dublin to get a job and leave a postgrad in UK), OH came to see me in student accom and asked for a hard hat (cos he walloped his head off the wall). I think the bang did something to him, cos about half an hour later, there was a 7 year plan made - involving getting me a postgrad (hah! just finished it a month ago on a totally different subject!!) and a couple of years working before we got married. We just shortened that by a few years in the end...one of those things that felt inevitable from within 8 days of meeting (met 2 days before Christmas and by our second meeting on New Year's Eve there was no going back). Like MrsD, I really couldn't imagine life without OH. The welcome in our wedding booklets was "This day I will marry my best friend - the one I laugh with, live for and love". Which we both truly truly meant and still do. |

| When I first met OH he was standing by the side of the road with his mate, who's car was in a ditch. It was chucking down, and I just remember some bloke in one of those head-to-toe ponchos and a massive grin. I invited him and some friends to a Burns Night supper a few months after that and we all stayed up until 7am while drunken mate sang drunken songs in drunken scots. Thereafter, he came to visit me because he was fed up of living with said mate in the frozen bothy where they were staying (it was very cold that winter - down to -25degC) and walked miles in a white-out blizzard to see me. It's still the most romantic thing anyone's every done for me! We're getting married in September but from early on we both knew it was just right.

| Used to work with Mrs Broadway, had to get her drunk before she said yes to marry me! Her birthday is on Chrsitmas Day which is great as one I don't forget her birthday, two she gets twice as many presents and I moan, but third and best I do all the cooking on the day. Obviously bad point is I use a lot of dishes / pans! Joking aside though my wife is my rock, friend, lover, I'd be lost without her. Danny

| We met in very cheesy fashion at the wedding of mutual friends, got a little bit tipsy (!) and ended up smooching on the dancefloor...most embarrassing moment was asking the bride if she had a pen to write down our phone numbers You don't see many wedding dresses with pockets ![]() Still together 12 years later, married, three children, many kayaks and one allotment - fab! |

| I met Oh on the internet while getting divorced. I only finally agreed to meet him cos he was local and it meant I didn't have to drive very far, lol. Soething he has never let me forget! He was the exact opposite of my type, but his house was a safe haven to chill in when it was tense at home. I guess he grew on me, lol and he is very handy aorund the house whereas my ex was useless! He took me to Rome for my birthday the first year and we were haggling at one of the tat stalls and the chap running it said 'your husband he buy you this'. I said 'my husband's at home' The vendor's eyes nearly popped out of his head and he shook my partner's hand! (We were in Italy afterall lol). I decided I would keep him when I saw how daft he is with his cats (he made them a little step to get out of the catflap when they were small, and put some adapted socks on them when they were spayed to protect their wounds - bless!- I knew he would make a great dad and 2 kids on he is! janeyo ![]() |

| I met mine at work and unfortunatly at the time I was married, little did I know that my marriage would break up and he was there for me, but we didnt rush into anything as I had four boys aged 4 yrs to 12yrs old and was very vunerable, He put me on his car insurance in case i ever needed a car, he picked me up if i wanted a night out or gave me a lift home from work, the best thing was on mothers day he arranged for the boys to get me loads of daffodils and cards from each of them which he paid for. He hasnt always been brilliant with the boys and life has been hard but we have stuck together and have been married for 13yrs and have a 12 yr old daughter. I wouldnt change him for anything. |

| I my OH at work, I told him I didn't fancy him and would never go out with him (which he's never let me forget) and became great mates. I was driving on the M25 one day to see him as we were going to a friends wedding together and I had an epiphony, I could see our life together with children and couldn't imagine being without him. We went to the wedding and as we get on so well everyone assumed we were together, we were by the end of the night and now have two gorgeous children born on the same day 1 year apart, didn't get an epiphony on that one though.

| My other half was a friend of my now ex-wife and she was a single mum with two kids . When my ex walked out on me and my 3 kids my oh helped me pick up the pieces and gave me advice on divorce ( which she had done 8 years earlier herself )and been a single parent and basically been a friend when needed. The crunch came when her brother got married and i helped get the reception room ready with her and her brother said i could come to the reception in the evening as i helped set it up. They had been hinting for some time that me and my oh should make a good item and said i wasn't going as i didn't feel like a wedding after just getting single. So i stuck to my plan and got a bottle of wine and a movie and settled down for a good night in , but the wine was gone before the adverts was through and they came a knocking at my front door and said i should come over and join the party. As i was a little drunk by then i agreed and joined the party but wasn't there very long as when i got through the door my other half was there and some kids where putting peanut down the front of her dress so i offered to take them out for her and the rest was history. alittle while after wards we found out they had a pot of money on how long before we got together and the bride won it.
