That's probably to do with your display settings - on this laptop & the PC 1024x768 is maximum viewable size.

Ermmm, because it hasn't been changed for that reason...

It's been changed because less and less people are using 800x600 resolutions and the more common screen res is 1024 x 768 by quite a margin. So the redesign has been optimised to cater for this.

Ah, I have mine set at 1280 x 1024 so that could explain why I still have spaces down the sides!

So you can't make it autofit the browser window then?

well what a surprise. I logged on at 1pm, back on now and what a change. It took me by surprise, but first impression is good.

We could do yes, but we won't be doing this in the near future i'm affraid.

One of the problems with a fluid layout is that lines can become too long to read in monitors with larger resolutions, so with a fixed width you know where you stand.

Plus if you wanted, you could easily close your history whilst using the grapevine if you wanted by using a shortcut perhaps it's Ctrl+H ?.

So far all the comments have been positive which is excellent!

Sorry, I'm old and I hate change - I panicked when I logged on tonight. However, I suppose I'll get used to it and at least the site is not freezing on me tonight. Why do we need all the huge piccies and graphics when you log on, though?

I liked your brown banner too!

In fact, I don't like the MOM/Admin/Moderator banners at all, sorry.
Or the Offline/Online Now button thingies. Seasprout's header looks all higgledy piggledy now - nothing lines up!

On a more positive note, I do like the new index page header...
