Default Why am I being culled?

I have noticed that my posts have just gone from 1420(ish) down to 1300! This happens on a fairly regularly basis and I am confused as to why - anyone know?

I have no concern as to whether I am a Sprouter, Grouter, Germinator or Terminator but I am concerned as to why posts are being removed without my knowing about it.

It has happened approx 4 times that I know of - my concern is that if I bother to post something (which takes time) and it is removed then I am totally wasting my time .... I am not happy about this

I don't (usually) take part in the Sunday Chat (not around at that time) so it isn't that.

I feel inclined to shut up and not bother - some would say yaaay I know but this isn't good

I was wondering that as well, I have been made a 'tuber' three times now and each time I get knocked back a few, not that it really matters but I am just relieved to no longer be a 'rooter' which has an entirely different meaning to our southern hemisphere grapes!!

Dont worrit, I lost over 400 a while ago. Just ignore the number count, its in reality of no consequence to anyone other than post chasers.

Dearest PW - you miss my point methinks

I am not concerned with lost numbers, I am concerned with lost content - for example, should I sit and pen a really useful answer to a Grapes question, which has taken me ten/fifteen minutes of research and checking only to have it 'lost in the cull' is an insult to my time - is it not?

So whilst I am not 'worriting' I do think an explanation is due

Judging from my experiences on other sites it could be that a member of the forum has either quit voluntarily or has fallen foul of forum rules of etiquette and been deleted - for being very, very naughty!

Also there have been a number of sad losses of former members that I have read about and perhaps after an elapsed time of non-use their details are erased - and all attached comments/threads? A Mod or Ben the programmer might be able to answer - but I would have thought that in the case of a deceased member - that unless the family have so requested it would be a rather nice tribute to their friendship/expertise in life to leave their comments and threads in the 'living world' for us all to learn from as a legacy?

I also thought that Q1 - but I'm not sure it is so in this case, but as ever I could be wrong

If it's read at the time and appreciated, no. Or is it your place in 'posterity' you're concerned about!

I sometimes need to look at past posts for information or whatever. So far I haven't looked for one that's been deleted. If I hadn't read this thread then I might have wondered as to my sanity/alzheimers if I had remembered a post I couldn't find .

AND although I'm not into posting just to get past the category I'm in I'd be a bit miffed to stay where I am just a cos someones deleted my posts.

I apologise for not posting for a while, 'puter problems, and I did note the lack of 'Appy Birfday.

I may be wrong but I think that the Sunday chat threads are deleted the next day so could that account for any part of it?

The only reason I know of for definate why your post count would drop would be ecause of Sunday Chat or a deleted thread. As we delete threads very infrequently, it would mean you'd posted some 120 posts in one thread (e.g.)

Just a thought..... isn't there a Grapevine archive? I've not really gone that far back before, but if a thread goes into archine (so can till be red) maybe it drops off your post count?

I can see what you're saying though Pikie - you're worried your content has disappeared.

If we delete individulal, there are good reasons for it and we pm the person involved to explain why it was deleted. If we delete a whole thread we can't possibly PM everyone who took part

yes I know JM - twas a figure of speech/type for being here

And as mentioned above by a couple of you - I don't do Sunday Chat, for no other reason than I need some time away from this pooter as I work here and play here - so SC isn't the reason for massive numbers of posts being removed.

As the Mods have said above - they wouldn't remove without telling us, so what the heck is the explanation for it all - happening more than once
