My dad has always had a beard. He has an identical twin brother. Once, when I was very little, he shaved and picked us up from school. Only when he spoke did I realise it was my dad. I burst into tears saying "you look like my uncle!". I wasn't pleased!

When DH shaved his moustache off is the early 80's the kids went looking for it in the bathroom sink, they thought they could take turns wearing it.

We have been married 13 yrs Mrs Dog. My excuse was I was at the Lottie all day tho he did pop down to see me. He didnt say anything cos he wanted to see how long it took me to notice. He never says anything when I have my hair done or when I dress up to go out not even on our wedding day !!!!
Still cant get used to him being without.

Oh dear Jackie, you won't be able to tell him off now when he doesn't notice your new haircut etc.!
My O.H. grew a little 'goaty' type beard years ago but it was a bit patchy in colour & I didn't really like it & was glad when he shaved it off.

I had the same thing with my dad.. he'd had a 'tache all the way through my childhood/ teens.. so when he shaved it off (for charity if i recall, it was that imfamous that people paid for it to go! :P) it took me a couple of hours and some prompting ('see anything different about dad???') to notice cos I think i mentally inserted it (and it was sunny so his nose cast a shadow) was quite a surprise to see my dads top lip for the first time!

Mr F had a beard for many years and decided, when the kids were about 4 and 7, to go without. Son was good all day - he wasn't sure who the new bloke was! Even though he sounded like dad!

B always had a moustache. When the clocks changed in the autumn he grew a beard and shaved it off in the Spring when they changed again.

He got various silly comments one of the silliest being "I know what's different, you've grown a moustache".

I hate it when Jez shaves off his beard and/or moustache, he looks very odd indeed - far too much lip!
