i havent actually explained to my son about him yet but i know the kids at school may say somthing how do explain to a kid that the guy hung himself because hes possiably contributed to his girlfreinds death ( was reported he did give the drugs to her whether they both did it all the time i dont know, most likely she would of survived if she hadnt of got in the bath ), what gets me is he dissapeared 6 days ago last sighting was at paddinton station, i know he was out of public view even so though??? obviously he died of a broken heart and that is what makes it more sad i liked the guy he was brilliant on smart first heath now him two differant leagues but still shocking to hear

A very funny, man, who will be sadly missed. When my daughter was growing up, no matter where she was in the house, if she heard big picture, little picture music she wuld run to see what Mark was doing........
Mark and Natasha, together again, RIP 2008. |

If they hadn't of been druggies neither tragedy would have happened. It's the poor families i feel sorry for. They obviously weren't thought about when the next line of coke was being snorted!

Both of these young people had promising careers and loving families. Now because of drugs they are no more and they have left family and friends grieving. Why can't we find an answer to the evil trade in drugs. It destroys not just those who take it but everyone else who love them. My heart goes out to the families and the poor lost person that Mark had become.

My girls are all terribly sad at the news - Mark Speight always came across as someone who really loved the job he did rather than it just being a way to earn money. I did think that Newsround handled the news very well - just enough detail to satisfy curious little minds without being patronising or seeking to exclude them. I don't usually feel the urge to express sorrow at the death of someone I didn't know personally - but I do in this case. We will miss him from our screens...

Always came accross as a nice dude on telly, but then I guess that's what you're paid to do on kids tv. Sad regardless.

It just goes to show...just because people choose to be on tv, you don't really know them, or the pressures they are under in their real life.
It's very sad, and a truely strange place to choose to end your life in. Last edited by Pumpkin Becki : 15-04-2008 at 01:23 PM. |

I don't know much about him as I don't watch much TV. All I know it's such a waste of young lives.
Apparently the use of cocaine has more than doubled among 16- to 24-year-olds since the start of the decade and Britain remains one of the countries with the highest level of cocaine abuse, along with Spain and Italy. There's also been a significant drop in price for the drug and it's fast replacing ecstasy on the club scene. Lenient treatment of drug-abusing celebs is sending a damaging message to impressionable young people. Amy Winehouse was questioned by police but not arrested over a video that appeared to show her smoking crack cocaine. Pete Doherty, meanwhile, was given a suspended jail sentence and a 12-month drug rehabilitation order last year after pleading guilty to possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis. Kate Moss has been interviewed by police over photographs of her allegedly taking cocaine, but no charges were brought against her. Chelsea FC sacked their Romanian striker, Adrian Mutu, after he tested positive for cocaine in 2004. The police never became involved. Peer pressure must be extremely difficult to resist.

I was quite shocked to learn he was 42, I thought he was younger.
