Default Dawn Chorus

For the last week I have been listening to the birds starting singing in the morning, and it's certainly getting earlier.
Yesterday I heard the first bird at just after 5.30 am and last weekend it was nearer 6am.
Same bird each day...I think it's a blackbird, but it's very different to the end of the day songs.
Can anyone suggest a CD or website where you can listen to various songbirds - or indeed any European birds????

The morning chorus is wonderful at the moment, it seems very early- still dark most days.

Fantastic Tony

We have a great spotted and a green woodpecker in Normandy and they were about at New Year! ( easier to see too as there are no leaves on the trees!)

I have to ask....am I the only one who ends up cross eyed when using binoculars?????

Ha Shirl! Twas rain on the window this morning for me

No, Nicos. I go cross-eyed too. I always thought that it was because I was so used to peering through a camera that my poor, feeble brain couldn't cope with using two eyes. I now put a powerful lens on the camera and use that instead - although after a while it makes your wrists ache.

As someone who frequently works nights, I just love to hear the dawn chorus, it's glorious!

Certainly is.

I've been checking the web cam every so often but I didn't know about all the other "stuff" there is on the site. Thanks JM for pointing it out

I'm not awake early enough for the Dawn Chorus, but I have noticed a lot more singing at dusk now. Its lovely. Blackbird is my favourite song.

Jacob

Thanks for pointing out the rspb site. Love it. It's in my favourites now, we're often trying to identify birds.

Well, I love birds. I love singing birds. I love the dawn. I love British Summer Time.

BUT PLEASE LET ME NOT WAKE UP AT 4 EVERY MORNING!
It's doing me nut.
I've got blackout lining on the curtains, and earplugs in me lug-oils. But my body clock has now reset itself to wake me at 4am, no matter what time I go to bed.

Our bedroom window was left open (OH gets too hot, I get too cold it's a no-win for everyone) last night and the birds woke me before it was even thinking of getting light. Was 4.20 something, eyes were kind of glued so hard to make out the numbers.

They must be SO keen to get my grass seed and veggies they are setting their little birdie alwarms Very Early.

janeyo (where's the yawn smilie?)

Here's a little more information about the DAB radio birdsong channel, for those of us who just can't get enough of the real thing:
