Default A setback for self sufficiency

Can I remind any breadmakers out there that if you wish to use your own saved sunflower seed in homemade seeded bread, that it is necessary to get the sunflower kernals out of the seed casings, otherwise for every mouthful of your otherwise delightful fresh bread you will be spitting out a couple of straw-like husks.

Perhaps I'll just use the rest for sowing. Sunflower seeds, anyone?

I'm sure the birdies will love it.

Oh, that's a pain! Is there some sort of magic gadget that can sort that out? Sounds horribly laborious to do by hand!

Coz I didn't think! It was only afterwards I thought - 'oh yes, you do see the squirrels dropping the husks off.....'

And yes, I'm sure they will!

You'd trust the squirrel with a bread knife?
