Second hand greenhouse

Depending on wether you need to maximise light or not. If not I would go marine ply for the flat wall, if you do then polycarb. As for everything else I would stick with glass. But that is just if I done it no real/ particular reason

Assuming the back wall is North I would put insulation in there. It will need a wall of some sort too ... but if you plan to start anything off early in the season the insulation will help. So would a block-work wall! which will hold heat from the day and release it at night. Not cheap though, unless Hubby is handy and materials can be blagged somewhere?

If it's a back wall and the greenhouse is freestanding, could you get long sheets of polycarb and fix to battens, with those fixed to the structure? Any gaps could be filled with expanding foam.

We need as much light as possible as its not in a particularly sunny spot. A reason for this is so that I don't have direct sunlight constantly on it and don't have to bother with painting the glass in the summer for shade etc. also as it is the first thing you see as you either look out of the window or walk outside, it has to look nice! I've already been told it can't look crappy as it's on full view from every part of the garden... One stylish looking greenhouse coming up Sir! that polycarbonate stuffs not cheap though is It? :/

Someone recently found 15 sheets of 1200mmx600mm-ish for around �45 I think on flea-bay. I don't know wether they bought them in the end though. I bought 5 sheets for �29 from a company Mally linked will try and find the links/ threads.

Ooh! Please do, there are a lot of sites selling it, but the prices really vary, some are ridiculous! You could buy a new greenhouse!

See if you can cadge a few old windows from a local double glazing firm then fill in the gaps with timber.

Just an after thought............why didn't you put it against the fence & glaze/polycarb above the fence?

If you plyboarded it,paint the inside white, you'de hardly realise the glass was missing it would be very bright..paint the otherside green, put a net up on it, and grow climbers, peas or beans.Can't think of a cheaper way.

Bigmal, because the fence belongs to next door and it's very wobbly. Not sturdy at all. It's not going to blow down or anything but we didn't want it flexing and then making the greenhouse flex too.
Libby, if we put a solid wall on it we'll block out the view to the garden and also the sun will beam right through it and onto the garden behind it. If it's solid it'll shadow everything behind it. A lot of thought went into where it was going. A pity that we didn't put a lot of thought into it, before we went and got it! We got back and where like, ah, right, what exactly are we going to do with this bloody big thing?! We were so excited to be given a freebie that it didn't occur to either of us that we didn't actually have a wall....!

Got some plastic, on its way via ebay from Hull. That's my weekend sorted then, well, that and building a path! My exciting life

also OH came back from asda last night with 28 flower buckets! I can't beleive they throw them away!
