  • Rabbit proof brassica bed

Although one or six rabbits have gone to meet their maker, I still seem to have some rabbits in the garden. I recently took down an old small shed from where the greenhouse is now standing, so the plan is to use the circular saw to cut the panels and floor into fence sized panels and build a fence on 3 sides near the hedge. The front will have chicken wire on some posts and then when required, netting over the lot to keep the cabbage white butterflies at bay.

Sounds a good idea but you'll find those pesky rabbits will dig under it. Meet Mr Browning... you might want to put a line of house bricks under it.

Yes - my parents get rabbits (& pheasants & muntjac deer ) & have built a huge wire fence around their veg plot & down to the bedrock which is only about 6 inches down. Before that everything was getting eaten & rabbits were digging under that small gap between fence & rock. (They have raised beds in case you're wondering )
      Another happy Nutter...

There's tunnels everywhere, wee monkeys, I had a lot of wildlife areas that have been tidied up a lot, so hopefully the varmints will move on, I do have a firearms licence and the means to deal with the problem, but I like to give them the option to leave first.
