Apologies if this is the wrong place for this kind of question, feel free to move it

    I am after a leaf blower/Sucker/Shredder

I came across this one: Eckman 3000W Leaf Blower, Vacuum & Shredder Is anyone familiar with this particular model? Can you recommend a decent (and affordable) one?

    Thank you!

I have a Flymo electric blower / sucker which I've had for years (so they may have changed substantially since then). It will blow large gravel along nicely, let alone leaves, but its suction is pretty pathetic. There is a "shutter" at the end of the snout that you close for suction, I think basically the air being blasted down the snout is the diverted back up half of it, and consequently its ability to suck up leaves, particularly if they are wet-ish, is not brilliant. I blow the leaves against the fence and then scoop them into the barrow, only time I use it on suction is to pick up every last Black Spot infected leaf amongst the rose bushes.

I had a red one years ago (power devil, maybe?) anyway, the mesh that shredded the leaves was plastic, and shattered in the cold on about the third time I used it. Not happy.

Anyway, having used $t!hl petrol-powered blower/sucker/shredders at work, I decided that's what I would have next. Hubby bought me one this year, and it's fab. Slightly dearer at £350 but very useful for keeping customers' gardens tidy!

I have a stihl br420 which I bought off fleabay after my br400 got stolen off my trailer. The 420 isn't as good as the 400 but it does shift the leaves on an industrial scale. It doesn't suck

I have just bought a petrol Echo picker upper/ shredder leaf collector and blower all in one for work. Excellent bit of kit but its not to keen on shredding plastic bottles! Not a bad price either at £190 +Vat!

I would like a leaf blower too but I'm guessing at £39.99 compared to the ones above, it won't be that good?

... but sometimes you get lucky. This one has some great reviews: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garden-QGBV2...an+leaf+blower

Well, I know it's expensive, but I've used it twice this week (forgot my earplugs ) and it even moves big gravel! It won't lift leaves that the worms have started to pull under, whereas a rake may do that, if it doesn't just shred them This morning I blew a whole garden clear, in about 45 minutes. Last time I raked it, it took me four hours!

Like I said, yes, it's expensive. But, after raking for 4 hours, I seize up, and it lasts for days. With the blower, I can go on to do another garden the same day!

If you just want one for your own garden or allotment, even a cheap one is worth it to save your back!

Some great suggestions, thank you all very much.

I cant justify an expensive one as its really only to suck up leaves from the single tree down the street. So it wouldn't be used very frequently (1~2 times a year). Now all I have to do is sweet talk the fiancee...
