  • Greenhouse help !!!!!!

Hi folks first post !!! just got my very first allotment this week and im chuffed to bits and have been lucky enough to bag myself a free greenhouse which is fantastic...........BUT i dont know how to place it i have two options one of which is put it on heavy blue pallets (whick i thankfully can get for free from my work) and screw it down. or i can place it on slabs but unsure how to fix it too the slabs

    Thanks in advance Andrew !

Hello PTE & welcome to the Vine. What you need to decide is are you going to be growing in soil beds or pots. What I would do is cut the pallets in half or quarters, bury them on their ends & screw the greenhouse to the blocks that hold the pallet together if possible. Put slabs down the middle as a path & again using pallets, break them up & make 3 beds, one either side & one along the bottom so it's U shaped. Someone else may come up with a better or easier solution as I have a reputation for being a tad crazy.................I've no idea why................Edit: I don't even know what size the greenhouse is............

Congrats on the plot and greenhouse, thats a great start.

I'm with Bigmally on the U shape bed and slabs. You need something anchored into the soil that attaches to the greenhouse frame. B&Coo etc have a special base for thier greenhouses which is zinc plated steel but that needs a couple of long pegs driven in and bolted to anchor it 'level'. If it's glass panels then weight will play some part in keeping it down but it needs something driven deep in a couple of opposing corners to keep it there. Metal will last longer that wood unless you have some nice ceder. ;-)

I hammered some old fence posts in at each corner and bolted the greenhouse to those.

I also hammered some 2x2's in & bolted the BnQ greenhouse base to them.

My first question would be whats the glazing, polycarbonate needs more fastening down than glass.
