  • Designing the garden for next year, need some help with plants for a wall.

Ive got a old stone wall with bits where the cement has came out, the wall is bare and I think some plants would look good peeping out.
Anyone got any ideas of what flowering plants I could use that can just be planted and left to look after themselves.

    Thanks guys

I throw in rock soapwort (not the ordinary soapwort) Lots of pinkish flowers loved by pollinators plus its high saponin content means that you can use it to make a natural soap spray for aphids

Campanula. Down here in Torquay we have a million miles of stone walls and lots of them have campanula hanging from them, it can be most stunning with beautiful blue bell like flowers. It seems to grow almost without soil particularly on old walls where they used a lot of sand in the building of it. I have some in my garden and have found to start a new plant of requires a bit of attention to watering just to get it going then nothing will stop it.

Campanula grows like a weed here too - in the joints of the paving on the driveway for example. Another easy plant is Spanish daisy - Erigeron karvinskianus.
