About four years ago I did sow some winter raddishes, mainly china rose and black spanish. China rose was disappointing as it goes to seeds very easily, the spanish ones went to seeds the following spring / summer, left some alone and now they pop around and about wherever and whenever they want. The taste is quite strong, you can use them the same way as horseradish or you can dice them and use in soups, bake, shallow fry or whatever you like. The beauty of them ( because of their colour ) is that you don't realise that they are there. Together with turnips they can be sown as soon the ground is available i.e. when the onions crop is harvested. As with turnips the tops can be used, providing a pleasant bitter taste veg. which goes quite well with many dishes.
Even normal radishes can be used the same way. My best regards
