Hmmm.. without an idea of size, I'm guessing a potato flower as I had an identical looking flower growing out of my compost bin last year, with alternate white and lilac stripes on the flower.

If it is a potato flower, I have no idea the variety as they kind of just 'appeared' in the magical way my 'compost tomatoes' did this year...

Is it some sort of fruit??? It looks like you could eat the yellow centre bits!!

Knowing not much about veg - first growing year - and even less about flowers, my most logical thought is that Nick is a mostly a 'flower man' on his plot BUT he wouldn't have posted in 'fruit and veg showcase' if it wasn't .....

So, something that guru Nick grows, but is unusual even by his standards. Flower does look potato/tomato, so what's related, but unusual? Aubergine?

I'm probably miles out, but good game, Nick!

Deffo not Nightshade, thats much more trumpet shaped, smaller and a lot darker purple!

Apart from saying its a flower, thats all I can offer I'm afraid!

Having looked at my Milva flowers today I will go for potato flower. Is it one of the varieties you planned to plant or is a random stray?

Muckdiva is spot on. It is indeed a Maris Peer tatty (in all senses of the word) . Just goes to show you how nice they are when you get up close to them though.

Well I never! They are quite purdy ent they? I ventured down to the plot last night after work to get some more spuds for dinner (which were very nice by the way), had a little shufty at the flowers and was quite amazed at how nice they were.

Cheers nick, I'd have completely missed that otherwise!

Tree fruit of some sort - although it seems late for that sort of blossom. Can't quite make out the leaves behind the blossom so I suppose that would give it away which isn't the name of the game is it NTG.

Flum's blackberry seems a good and probably very educated (she is MOM after all) guess.
