Default Flower Teaser 2

Who would have thought a vegetable would produce a flower like this.

That is gorgeous PaulW, but I have no idea what it is as I have never seen it before.

That's a veg flower! Beautiful!

I can tell you what it isn't - allium, brassica.

but as to what it is..... please tell us PaulW, bother the veg bed - I want to grow it as an ornamental!

Is it salsify? Either that or perhaps chicory?

Excellent teaser photo! no clues! Single stem but no leaves showing. It's definitely not an allium (onion/garlic) because it's a single flower and they produce heads of flowers like balls. Looks a bit thistley, but not big enough to be cardoon or globe artichoke. HELP

Wow - would never have guessed that!

I'll have to go and get some - RHS reckon four monthe to grow, harvesting from Oct through to Feb, so I should still be able to get some in!

And a nice flower that is edible - can't ask for more!

Terry

Thanks for the offer Terry but I've already re-allocated the area I had set aside for it. Cheers all the same!
