  • First Show tomorrow

I am going to the Sutherland County Show tomorrow and to show my support (and because the show convenor is one of the judges at the show I organise in August), I am entering a few bits and bobs that I have ready, though a lot of my stuff needs at least another fortnight. I will be enytering 3 stems Rhubarb, Pointed Cabbage, 6 French Beans and Globe Beetroot - all in the any other veg class. Will post some piccies tomorrow of my exhibits and any others of interest (prepared to be bored !)

I should add that my stuff was in the amateur section - if you wanna see some of the good stuff take a look at my Dave The Gardener blog under entry entitled Sutherland Show 2011. It is quite early for a veg show especially this far north and this is evident when you look at tyhe Sweet Candle Carrots which have yet to develop a stump end.

                        Hey Rat,

had a look at your blog. Maybe try to get them to at least introduce a class for globe beetroot. That is a class usually very well supported and your entry even although not uniform in size was clearly of very good quality. It's always, the same, if you need 5, you can only get 4, if you need 4 you can only get 3 or as in your case when you needed 3, you got two. The more you grow in terms of numbers, it does get easier but we all have a limited area to grow in
