Is there a separate category for chillies?

Can I use the pic I posted of my rude chilli for the strange shaped veg contest?

Shame you can't enter a section more than once with different varieties. Specially spuds and beans. I've entered 3 runner beans, but the french ones are just coming good.

Can you not just edit your first exhibit and change the photo to the best you have?

Sorry Kernowyon, I don't know what that's about. I don't think there are any cliques on the Vine . I find it a place which is open and welcoming to everybody.(If it wasn't I wouldn't be here)
Maybe you're disappointed at what you can enter in the competition. I know how you feel. In the specific categories I don't think I've got anything special. In the "other" categories, I could show with pride, BUT only one entry allowed WHICH ONE to enter. I'm just taking my pics and I'll decide later. Got until September to decide. At the moment I'm thinking chillies, or peppers but haven't seen the final result of the squash - or maybe even the corn. I can't show them all so have to choose one .
Good luck with what you've entered. It is just for fun so enjoy.

The competition is open until September. You can keep your pics and decide later which one to enter. Oh decisions ! decisions!

Can I please ask that all entries are accompanied by clear labelling so that there can be no unfortunate misunderstandings as there has obviously been already.

If two entries are posted on the thread, they will be deleted until you have indicated which entry you wish to keep.

Thanks.

Please everyone, can we keep this friendly? As Alice said (and I agree) we are members of the Vine because it is open to everyone and everyone is treated with respect. I hope it will continue like this. PS I've eaten the french beans, so the runners will have to stand as my entry in the bean class for now. Jennie, if we get better pics later, can we post them and delete the earlier ones, or will this make life too complicated. I'm still trying to find 3 spuds as good as the ones that have been posted. Mine taste good, but don't look as good.

It's a lovely idea...

but I'm sad because most of my stuff came in July

There might be a cob of corn later in the month, I guess

Can I just ask Piglet/Jennie, does the single rose have to be cut & in a vase or can it be a photo of it on the bush? I have some lovely 'Gertrude Jekyl' ones but don't want to cut them off & they have buds alongside the main bloom, would that be O.K.?

To answer some of your questions (bear in mind that the other judge with great experience of showing is on holiday at the moment, my experience of anything connected with showing is well ... nothing).

Rustylady - if you do want to delete a previous entry and submit another I'm sure that will be fine. Later in the month we'll have an "end" date from GYO, so will post that as the deadline. Alternatively keep collecting you photographs and post them nearer the deadline, although that does take the fun out seeing everyone posting. (Please let me know if any of you are having problems deleting - I can always do it for you.)

Specimen Rose Bloom - Sue it doesn't say it has to be in a vase, so I would place your entry and see what we make of it when the time comes. I know you wouldn't normally take the bush to the show in reality, but then this is a virtual reality show!

Moggsue - I've asked GYO to consider a Brassica's section possibly
1 cabbage
1 head of broccoli
I've yet to hear whether that is ok, but keep taking the pictures ready to post.

I hope that brings things up to date

Sorry to keep asking questions.......but there doesn't seem to be a lettuce category, and as I have appoximately 500 to choose from at the Hill, I thought I might be in with a chance of that one.....

I can always put it under 'any other....' tho' if you don't want a separate category.

Jennie - the other judge with great experience of showing... (did I blink and miss that?!)

I'd also like to see this Virtual Show carry on in the friendly manner that Trousers and I are a part of this forum for, as Alice rightly says. We're only here because of that too.

The Show will be enormously funny with all our entries, and we are really looking forward to being a part of it.

Jennie, no chance of a 'Flobalob' Category I spose?! (Kidding!)

We were trying to keep it kind of small this year, to see how things go, as it is a bit of new venture for us (GYO and us mods - not necessarily you lot!) so it may well have to come under the "any other" Hazel. However, next year .............

PS I am making a list of possible other categories that have been mentioned in case there is an opportunity of expanding the existing list.

Just list it as a new variety of white broccoli!
