Yes courgettes are a superb veg.
I have grown them for many years, and have a few tips.
1) Try the yellow ones they seem a bit less watery.
2) Always cut small, once they get bigger plant stops make more.
3) Watch for ones that look small but don't get bigger, cut them off as plant has sort of given up on them.
4) Cut off any obviously dead leaves.
5) When young put small canes between leaves to help with wind rock.

I have also tried others such as UFO courgettes etc.

Any one tried the climbing one, black hawk or something like that?
Jim

I got yellow ones and found out that one of the seeds from the yellow packet has been a green one and the yellow ones will be ready soon. Thank you for the advise.

Hope you really like them Joey - mine are coming thick and fast now, and I've only got four plants. I really need that recipe book (if my daughter's watching the posts) - title is something like 1001 recipes for courgettes.

I wasn't that keen on the yellow ones when I've tried to grow them in the past - think they were gold rush or something (?) and the yield seemed low by comparison to other varieties. Am trying the climbing ones this year (Black Forest), plant seems very healthy and has a few fruits coming nicely but doesn't really seem to be climbing as yet! Will have to wait and see what happens.

This is my first one for this year. It's tricolour. They are round and come in light green, dark green and yellow. Looks good so far.

I reckon you should grow those in boxes, so they would be cube-shaped. Much easier to slice

Pumpkin Becki, it's called Tricolour. And it is coming in 3 colours. The seeds are expensive - 5 for £2+ - but I got them from another Grape. How generous.

Just gorgeous, Alice - are you growing these in containers, or have you planted them out in beds in your new place?

Also, at the price I suspect they are an F1?

Hmm, I've had rotten luck (literally) with my intentional pumpkins, squashes and courgettes this year - however, I have got loads of seedlings popping up where ever I use my homemade compost!

They're in pots Hazel, against a south facing wall, but I have got beds made in my new garden and they're working well.
