  • Where can I buy millet seeds

I want to grow millet to produce seeds for birds. The variety I need is called panicum miliaceum(just your standard millet I think) however I cannot find these for sale anywhere, only the purple ornamental type. Any ideas where I could get hold of some?

    Thanks in advance

If all else fails why don't you try growing the bird seed itself? Or is it treated in some way?
Just thinking of the furious germination that goes on under my bird feeders!

All you need is a spray of millet from your local pet shop, should only cost you a few penny's.

          Millet bonanza

I was looking after my Mums parrot last summer and I put him out
in the garden whilst I was having a cuppa and tootling about. Anyway,
he is a mucky beggar and he sent some of his bird seed flying. Well,
it was but a matter of weeks before this millet seed mix was sprouting
and growing up all over my patio area and borders.
I dont think you will have any problem successfully sowing millet!!

Oooh, I didn't know you could do this! Our budgie (Floyd Mayfeather) goes through his millet sprays at a rate of knots, I'll grow him some.

Do you sow them direct or can I use a pot? Any advice on them?
