  • Vine Weevils and Aeonium

My mum has lovingly nurtured an Aeonium and its now very large and sprawling (upright) and lives in the conservatory. She's discovered vine weevils eating the leaves and doesn't know how best to treat it.

Reading info on t'internet suggests picking the adult weevils off but won't they be doing damage to the roots?
Other info suggests tipping it out of the pot and inspecting the roots but it's so large that I fear it might break (and we struggled to pot it up in the first place)

    Has anyone got any ideas?

I had vine weevil in my strawberries and they killed about 30 plants (container grown). It is the grubs that will be in the soil, so you need to pick off the adults but also get rid of the grubs. You can buy nematode controls for them - I have some to water into my pots this year - which will kill the grubs, but I'd guess you might need several applications to kill any new grubs that emerge from eggs later in the year.
    Good luck!
