    Tree Identification Help

    I have been noticing, round where we live, a lot of people with the same type of tree in their garden. We have a small one in the front garden, next door have a larger one in their back garden.

    Don't have any pics as yet, but it is quite distinctive...

    Have seen them from between 6ft high to about 15ft high
    Bright green, small, roundish leaves
    Currently yellow 'strings' of flowers, hanging down

    Any ideas anyone?

    Will try and get a photo up tonight if needed!

        I never notice them until they flower, and they look so pretty!

          It's a very pretty tree isn't it??
          I like how when the yellow of the crocus and daffs has gone how the laburnum,gorse and forsythia bring back the yellow to the garden/countryside
          .

          ..and so...are you going to treat yourself to a tree now you know what to ask for????

            Hi All
            they are beautiful trees, but can be quite poisonous where animals and children are concerned. It's mainly the seeds you need to watch small kids with, and any part for animals eating it. Sorry to bring doom and gloom, but we had couple in a field in front of our last house, and they always shifted the horses out when the trees came into bloom.

              Also called Golden Chain. Someone had one that overhung the school playground and we had numerous occasions when kids ate the pea-like seeds (including my own voracious son!) None ever came to harm but they are reputed to be poisonous and I would always recommend that kids and animals be kept away from them.
              Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

                We've got a little one in the front garden, so I'll stick with that for now!

                As much as I'd like one in the back, I'm wary of poisonous plants where the dogs can reach. I've seen them standing on their hind legs to steal blossom or fruit off a tree, so daren't risk it!
