  • Transplanting Foxgloves

I'm considering turning another bed over to vegetables, but it's currently occupied by numerous foxgloves. As it's their turn to flower next year, could I transplant now them without damage?

Autumn is the time I move things around and split plants in the garden, as they have stopped growing.

However if you are wanting to get on and do your bed, just make sure you take a good rootball and lump of soil with each plant. That way you won't upset them too much and water them in well. Obviously not a good idea to do this on a sunny or very windy day, as they will dry out quickly.

You can, as long as you move them quickly, water in well and keep an eye on them for the next few weeks to make sure they don't dry out.

I've transplanted loads - they always go for my veg beds too! Lots of water when you move them, and check on them occasionaly for the next couple of weeks. Any sign of wilting and chuck on another bucket of water. They'll pick up again.

Cheers for that. I'll prepare their new homes first.
