You were right and I couldn't find any non-expensive trailing plants in the shops! So I've bought some herbs

These should be alright, smell lots and I picked the ones which like well drained soil!

what you should do Gryphon is buy one of the trailers you like & then take loads of cuttings, that way you can have the expensive look at a fraction of the price

That having been said, different sorts of thymes hanging down look pretty good anyway.

I didn't think of that! But then they were still expensive just for one and I don't want to wait for them to grow

Got some trailing rosemary though and still had some ivy in there
