  • Taking tuberous Begonia cuttings

    Hi,
I'd like to try taking some stem or tip cuttings for next year's stock. I have a lot of 'generic' store-bought tubers that came with colour descriptions but not actual names. They look like your bog standard tuberous begonias. I also have some non stop begonia plants. They all have plenty of leaves and stems at the moment.
Question is, will these easily root in water? Or would I be best putting them in a growing medium? I'm tight for time to be honest so am hoping the water method will work well. It sounds the easiest.
Thanks for any advice or tips, haven't done this before.

To be honest, I'd try a few and see how they do. My only concern is that Begonias are prone to rotting when too wet....not sure if that would extend to submerging the stem in water.

Good luck and let us know how they do.

Yes you can. If you google tuberous begonia propergation there is very comprehensive information at bradsbegoniaworld, top one on the list.
