    Sunflowers in containers

    I fancy bringing some colour to the garden this year, and thought it might captivate the kids' minds somewhat if I were to grow some Sunflowers. Thing is we don't have any borders, just lawn, so I was wondering if they'll grow successfully in containers, and if so what size?

    Also, I'd like to entice more bees and other helpful insects into the garden and was thinking of getting some wildflowers or something on the go. Any suggestions?

    Bees love borage. I've got some in my garden and you can use the leaves in salads, they taste like cucumber. It will self-seed readily though so if you don't want that, then pop it in a container. I've bought a mixed pack of wildflowers which I'm going to sow in amongst my veg and my flower border and will see what comes up. You can buy specific mixes to attract bees and butterflies. You can also get smaller sun flowers suitable for containers. The container size depends really on the size of the sunflowers you choose.

      i reckon you should dig some flower beds in, and then you can have whatever you like .... you will need a big and deep pot for sunflowers, but they should grow ok as long as they are well supported.

        I grew some sunflowers last year for my grandaughter.
        They did really well but were quick to dry out.
        I grew them in small buckets.
        Hope this helps.
