Default Sowing seeds

Advice please. I am going to grow from seed my own annuals this year, and according to the packet in which the seeds are supplied; they should be sown straight onto the garden at a specific time. Now, knowing my luck, and from past experience, very few appear, so is their any reason why I should not edge my bets, and grow some in the greenhouse (unheated). or must they go straight onto the soil as specified.

Default The need for seed.

I tried my hardy annuals straight into the soil in early 2007 and never saw them again, i did also sow plenty into those cell trays in a cold greenhouse, planted them out in the spring and had a fantastic display.

This year i will sow them into cell trays again about mid march.

What size multi cell would you recommend for the every day seed.
