  • Russell Lupins

I got my first flower on my Russell Lupins within the last few days. I love these plants, so much so they are taking up room in my vegetable garden.

That looks great, I do like Lupins, never had much luck with them myself. Do you have just the 1 colour?

I'm the opposite. I don't like them! Congratulations on your success, though!

Congrats, did you grow them from seed? I love lupins but mine tend to get mildew as the summer progresses.

When I read your post I thought it was a funny time to be getting flowers, but then I noticed where you live.

And here we are gritting our teeth through freezing temperatures!

It's our Summer here at the moment, but it's been cool and very wet, with flooding across the country. Gearoid, they're grown from seed which was so easy and from sowing to flower was just over 10 weeks. It was actually quite cool here at the time, but something that Lupins actually like. I do have only the one colour in this bed, but do have a few White and a few Purple elsewhere.

I must admit I have never grown them before, but do like them, so I may grow more in the future. Here are a couple of earlier photos of them.
