  • Roses dead?

I have 2 roses, one of which has been twig like since winter (was really healthy last year) and another which has only become like it over the last few days - was healthy. Both are in terracotta pots, and havent been allowed to dry out fully.

A third, kept in the same location, treated exactly the same is fine apart from a touch of blackspot that's appeared over the last few days.

Should I assume they're dead, or could they come back next year? A bit lost as to how to tell without damaging them.

    they sound terminal to me.
Tip out the contents and check the roots. You may have vine weevil grubs.

      Thanks.

Could the vine weevil grubs get from pot to pot, or would they have been there from the garden centre last year?

How can I ensure the same fate doesnt come to the remaining rose?

You don't know you've got them yet ... I am just eliminating possibilities.
